In October 1983 Mercer County Savings and Loan Association purchased the branch office of Mid America Bank located at 333 S. Broadway in Greenville, Ohio. At this time the name was changed to Mercer Savings Bank due to the Greenville office not being located in Mercer County. This office location was previously State Fidelity Bank (1978-1983), Loudy Office Supply (1873-1974) and Peoples Savings Bank (1919-1971). A 5 and 10-cent store by the name of The Hartzell Company occupied this address from 1909-1918. And from 1883-1904, Moore’s Carpet Store sold dry goods and notions. From 1904-1908 it housed the Home Carpet Store, which sold dry goods, notions and curtains.
